Rockland, Maine

My favorite spot in Maine is Rockland. It is one of the finest cities in —the center of Midcoast Maine. Its mountainous and rocky shore, rivers, lakes and bays make it one of the most beautiful spots on the coast of

Maine. I like living in a small town and a small neighborhood unlike a big city, but-some people might like the fast pace of the big city unlike the small town. The population of Rockland is about 7,609 people. The city is a popular tourist destination. It is one-of Maine’s finest coastal cities established in 1854. Rockland is home of the annual Maine Seafood Festival, and it is the world’s largest lobster feed. The world’s largest lobster pot is located in Rockland under a huge tent at the public landing. Visitors can explore the beach area surrounding the lighthouse that was built at the beginning of the 20th century. Rockland has so many places to visit. One of the many places to visit in the Rockland area is the Farnsworth Art Museum. The Farnsworth Art Museum offers a nationally recognized collection of works from many of America’s greatest artists. With 20,000 square feet of gallery space and over 10,000 works in the collection, there

is always something new on view at the Farnsworth Art Museum. Some

things that have been part of Rockland’s industrial history are shipbuilding, lime production, fishing and lobstering. These are-some of the reasons why Rockland is one of my favorite spots in Maine. —
