Spring: The Time of New Life
The quote, “No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn,” is attributed to Hal Borland. We have the boisterous, hot summer, we have the chilly autumn, we have the freezing, cold winter, but who could forget the best season of all? It’s spring, of course! You don’t have to worry about being in the blazing sun or the frigid snow. Spring is the time for new life, blooming flowers, and some marvelous holidays!
In spring we have April Fool’s Day and Easter. You get candy, tricks, and a chance to play with your family. There is also a significant number of birthdays during the spring. Although my birthday is not in spring, two of my best friends have their birthdays in the spring, as is my sister’s. There is a tremendous amount of celebrating going on, and with all that celebrating there’s bound to be a few parties here and there. I love to go to birthday parties and see the joy on everyone’s faces. The Easter parties are entertaining with all the brilliantly colored Easter eggs!
There can’t be all that celebrating and parties without food! We have scrumptious foods such as: eggs, potatoes, corn, cake, ham, pizza, and much, much more. Thinking about all this food just makes me want spring to come even faster. And
what would a birthday party be without food? That’s right, it wouldn’t be a party at all, it would just be a friendly get together.
These are not the only reasons I enjoy spring. I love to wake up in the morning to hear the sounds of birds, and going to bed at night and listening to the sounds of the crickets. These are sounds of new life and there is an incredible amount of new life, too! Don’t you think it is wonderful to walk outside in the gentle, mild air with a refreshing wind blowing? You can see birds in the air and new flower blossoms poking up through the ground. Some people might say that there is too much mud in the spring, but that doesn’t bug me at all.
These are just some of the many reasons why I have a preference for spring above all the other seasons. The other seasons may have their own merits, but spring is definitely the finest season of all. Remember what Hal Borland said, “No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn.”
