Winter is finally over! Not that I don’t like winter or anything, but it’s just kind of long and slow, if you know what I mean.We burst out of the house, like a bear waking up from a long winter’s nap. It’s spring, my favorite season! There are many reasons why I like spring. Here are some of them.
One reason is because I like it in the woods when the birds are chirping and the air is cool and crisp. The sun is coming out and the snow is melting, leaving the grass cool and damp. I love a nice walk through the woods, listening to the bird’s sweet songs and feeling the cool, crisp air wrapping around my body. I smell the sweet aroma of dew and fresh spring air. It feels nice to be able to go out and play without having to get all bundled up in our winter clothes. I also enjoy playing tag around our house with our neighbors, racing around and around, running as fast as we can and having a great time. Once in a while we slip in the wet grass, but that’s fun because sometimes we go sliding across the whole yard, having a great time. Lots of times it rains in the spring, and I love going out in my rain gear and splashing in the puddles.
Another reason I like the spring is because I look forward to summer coming up and going to the beach and doing other summer activities. Also, since it’s near the end of the school year we do a lot of fun things and go on more field trips. We also do a lot more things outside at school. During recess it’s fun to play tag or monkey in the middle. That’s one of my favorite games to play at recess in the spring. Sliding in the grass, racing after the ball; that’s my kind of fun. At home I also like going outside and wrestling in the grass with my friend Kiona. We’re pretty even, so the game usually turns into a laughing heap. We’ve never actually finished a wrestling match with each other. I find that to be one of the most exciting games I’ve ever played.
Last but not least, I like spring because that’s when my birthday is. My birthday’s in April, which is my favorite month. And no, it’s not just my favorite month because that’s when my birthday is. At my birthday party we usually try to sleep in a tent, but it’s always too hot and buggy. Once we went in because one of my friends was talking about rabid racoons and snakes lurking outside our tent! Also, our tent’s door was broken, so it would be easy for a snake to slither in. I know that doesn’t sound very realistic, but it’s happened to me before, and I won’t forget about it.
Now you know why I enjoy spring so much. Everyone has different preferences on which is their favorite season, and, as you know, mine is spring.
